Teen charged after officers assaulted during arrest: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police says a teen has been arrested following an altercation with police.

Police were called to Westwood Dr. in Lakeshore, Ont. around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday for reports of males fighting.

When officers arrived on scene and attempted to arrest one of the men involved, two officers were assaulted.

Police say the man was taken into custody and then proceeded to cause damage to the police cruiser.

The officers were not injured during the altercation.

A 19-year-old man from Lakeshore, Ont. has been charged with assault, mischief, and two counts of assault a peace officer.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in September.
