First Ontario Centre looked like the United Nations Saturday, but it was really a battle between nations for the World Synchronized Skating Championship.

Synchronized skating is a new sport. It started in 2000.

An estimated 8,000 figure skating fans poured into First Ontario Centre to watch athletes from 20 different countries.

Canada has two world-class teams, one from Montreal and the other from Burlington.

The competition will make its way to Budapest next year.
