Storms shut off the lights in Fort Erie

Wild weather blew through many areas of the Golden Horseshoe Tuesday morning.

There were torrential rains and strong winds, and power was knocked out to a Crystal Beach neighbourhood after a huge branch fell onto hydro wires on Crystal Beach Drive.

Marcia Caryln watched that tree fall: “I opened the window, put up the shade to look out the window. And all of a sudden I heard a crack and then the branch fell suddenly next to my car.”

Dale Kelly saw the storm come in: “I was sitting on the porch and the wind started blowing and the rain started falling. And I was looking out at that telephone pole and the sparks were flying.”

Fortunately no one was injured, and there wasn’t any serious property damage.
