State of emergency lifted in High River, AB
A provincial state of emergency in High River, Alberta has been lifted.
The declaration came into effect almost immediately after the town was swamped three weeks ago by flooding. Alberta Premier Alison Redford also confirmed yesterday that the province is handing control of High River back to it’s town council.
She said provincial support will remain in place for the community of 13,000 people, who all had to be evacuated when flood waters hit.
Redford also said the government is considering a policy to address whether re-building should be allowed in areas prone to flooding.
