There’s word tonight that sub-contractors hired to build the new Pan Am stadium, haven’t been paid. This is just the latest glitch in the problem-plagued project which is now 9 months behind schedule.
“They’re the guys that are doing the work and the base company based in Spain should have had provisions for the subcontractors to be paid promptly. These people have costs, they have expenses the people working for them are loyal employees that deserve to have their weekly cheques and they have to buy their groceries too.” Says Paul Miller NDP MPP
Their are four liens against the company that is building the stadium by contractors who say are owed a total of $2 million in outstanding labour and product costs, however, city councillor and former contractor Lloyd Ferguson says that’s not unusual.
The city is hoping to get the keys to the $145 million football and soccer stadium in April, the official opening is set for May.
