St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe running for re-election

St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe has announced on Thursday that he is running for mayor again.

“At the start of my first term we laid out an ambitious agenda with the goal of establishing a strong foundation for the future of our community,” Siscoe says.

He says during his time as mayor, the community has faced adversity, overcome significant challenges and celebrated many successes in four short years.

“I want to thank you all for the opportunity and privilege to have served as your mayor and I look forward to continuing our work together to build a strong and thriving community that we all call home.”

Siscoe has served as the city’s mayor since November 2022 after a tenure on council for St. Patrick’s Ward from 2010 to January 2022. He established the St. Catharines OutReach and Engagement Fund (SCORE), which supports local non-profits.

Other candidates running so far include Anthony A. Adeoye, Jimmy Jackson and Ann-Marie Zammit.

The last day for a candidate to file nomination papers or withdraw their nomination is Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.

Voting is set to take place on Oct. 26.
