A St. Catharines man who was reported missing last week is now facing child pornography charges.

Niagara police say they opened an investigation in January into child pornography offences committed on the internet.

Officers carried out a search warrant Wednesday at a home in St. Catharines, where they seized what police call “digital devices capable of storing electronic data.”

David Alexander Gomes, 28, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.

Niagara police confirm the same man was reported missing Thursday, but was found the next day.

Gomes is scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines court Tuesday.
