SIU investigates after woman is struck by train in Hamilton

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 28-year-old woman in Hamilton on Tuesday.

Officers say at around 1:30 a.m., they received a call regarding a woman on the train tracks in the area of the Hamilton GO Centre.

Police responded to the area of Hunter Street West and MacNab Street, where they located a woman matching the description.

The women crossed the tracks and left the area while officers were in the middle of speaking with her.

At around 3:25 a.m., a CN train struck the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is on Wednesday.

The SIU is asking anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
