Singing vet serenades commuters while selling poppies
Here’s a good reason to stop in at the Appleby GO station in Burlington, even if you’re not taking a train.
It’s worth it just to see 78 year old Billy Reid. He’s been serenading people at the station since 1981. He joined the Canadian Forces in the 50s and fought in the Gulf War.
As a kid, Reid grew up in a musical family. His father was an entertainer during the wars and he performed on radio shows.
Reid sings to help sell poppies for the Royal Canadian Legion. You can find Reid singing his heart out at the Appleby GO station until Sunday: Remembrance Day.
