Simoni Lawrence has been a Ticat leader for ten seasons now and was honoured on Saturday’s game for doing the one thing he does best, hitting people.
For ten seasons, Lawrence has been terrorizing quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs. In doing so has crept into the CFL’s top ten in career tackles with over 720.
“Honestly it’s just endurance really, a lot of it I give credit to the City of Hamilton. I’ve been out here since 2013, it’s a team award for the City of Hamilton for sure,” Lawrence says.
The Ticat legend bounced around NFL practice rosters and even spent time in Edmonton before being traded to the Ticats in 2013 when his career really took off.
“I think it was just the opportunity you know, I was blessed in Hamilton, it gave me the keys.”
Lawrence is not done yet, he says he’s looking for another contract extension with the Hamilton Ticats.
