Simcoe house fire caused $50K damage, almost took life of family cat

A house fire in Simcoe on Tuesday caused around $50,000 in damage and almost took the life of a family pet.
Norfolk County fire fighters responded to the fire on Cedar Street near Queen Street North just before 10:30 a.m.
The fire broke out on the second floor of the home. There was no one inside at the time, but the homeowners reported a missing cat.
The pet was located later in a wall of the building and given oxygen. The Simcoe District Humane Society took the cat in to stabilize her before she was given to the family vet.
