Shark fin debate in Toronto

A debate over shark fins will get underway at Toronto City Hall Tuesday afternoon.

Toronto City Council will debate whether to ban the sale of shark fins, which are a delicacy used in some soups.

Mayor Rob Ford says he doesn’t support the ban, but doesn’t think it’s the city’s responsibility to ban shark fins either.

About 100 protesters were outside Toronto City Hall.

Many of them say a ban would hurt the restaurant industry.

They say the fins are used in a traditional dish often served at Chinese weddings and insist the sharks are killed humanely.
