Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has an NBA scoring title, a championship, and a couple of MVP awards and now, the Hamilton hoops megastar can call himself a record breaker.
Gilgeous-Alexander broke the Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain’s record Thursday against the Boston Celtics, for consecutive games with at least 20 points, extending his streak to 127.
The Oklahoma City Thunder guard drilled a jump shot from beyond the free-throw line with 7:04 left in the third quarter, to push his point total to 21 — breaking “Wilt the Stilt’s” record of 126 games, which had stood since 1963.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 35 points, six rebounds and nine assists as the Thunder upended the Celtics 104-102 for their 7th straight win, pushing their league-best record to 52-15.
During his record-breaking run, Gilgeous-Alexander has five games with at least 50 points including a career-high 55 against Indiana in the 2nd game of this season.
He was last held under 20 points in a game when he scored 18 on Oct. 30, 2024, against the San Antonio Spurs.
