Niagara public health says a vaccination clinic in St. Catharines will be temporarily closed Monday due to low bookings.

The mass vaccination clinic at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre will be closed to booked and walk-in appointments.

It will resume regular operations on Tuesday.

The Seymour-Hannah clinic has administered more than 100,000 vaccination doses since its opening. Niagara Health says 41 per cent of all doses given in the region were administered at the centre.

Niagara Health will be permanently closing the clinic in mid-August. It will allow the sports and entertainment centre to be returned to the City of St. Catharines and restored to its original purpose.

A smaller vaccination clinic will be opened at the St. Catharines hospital to continue vaccinating those who still need their first or second dose.

In Niagara Region, 79.4 per cent of eligible residents have received their first dose and 63.5 per cent have received both doses.
