Season full of injuries for the Ticats

In a season already full of injuries, the bad breaks just keep on coming for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The latest, quarterback Jeff Mathews who wasn’t at practice today, and won’t be on the field Saturday in Ottawa after suffering an apparent concussion.

While much has been said in the media about the hit Simoni Lawrence had on Henry Burris last Sunday, very little if anything has been said up until now about the helmet-to-helmet hit that forced Mathews out of the game, and drew a major foul against Ottawa for roughing the passer.

The cats are faced with an all-to-familiar decision now, who is the next man up? They signed former Argo backup GB Mitchell Gale, who was released by the boatmen at the beginning of September, after seeing action in only four games over the last three years. “Black and gold were my high school colours, so there’s about 5000 people in Northwest Oklahoma who are jumping up and down right now. So it’s good to be back in black and gold, and definitely good to be back on the football field.”
