Man pinned under coil of steel

The Ministry of Labour will be investigating after a man in his fifties was pinned under a coil of steel last night in Burlington.

Halton Regional Police say the victim has serious crush injuries but is alive and in Hamilton General Hospital.

The incident happened around 9:30 pm at Samuel Metal Processing on Appleby Line near Mainway.

The company is a century and a half old international metal processor and manufacturer based in Mississauga, with over 100 locations.

Initial reports indicate the steel coil weighed about 20 tonnes.
