Scorching
Prepare for a scorching week — with only a little respite from showers Monday morning.
Environment Canada reports temperatures in Toronto reached 35 degrees around 3:00 p.m. Sunday, breaking the previous record for July 17th of 34.4 Celsius – set in 2002.
Similar temperatures were recorded in much of southern Ontario.
Forecasts call for similar temperatures most of the week – with a high on Thursday of 36 degrees.
The heat is driving many people to cool off in or near the water — and some pools now have extended hours.
Emergency response workers warn against going outside for too long when it’s this hot.
