Sanford school to be demolished
Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board trustees have decided that Sanford school will be demolished in January.
The 80 year old building was closed in 2001, and was declared surplus in 2003.
A large part of the decision to tear it down was the intent to create more green space in the neighbourhood, and make room for an extension to the Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre.
The renovations, which will cost an estimated $15 million, have not yet been approved by city council.
