October is Islamic Heritage Month. It’s a chance to recognize and celebrate the important contributions that Muslims make in this province.

Unfortunately, far too many residents are impacted by hate and intolerance, including Islamophobia. This is why Salam Hamilton officially launched on Tuesday.

Salam Hamilton is the city’s first anti-Islamophobia campaign. It was developed with the help of Hamilton’s Muslim communities at the direction of Hamilton City Council.

The campaign balances celebration and awareness and is meant to educate, inform, and address issues of hate and intolerance.

The event runs until 7 p.m. It’s free and open to everyone. It features local food, entertainment, a bazaar, family activities, and information booths.
