Royal tour in Halifax

A warm welcome pushed aside some cool and cloudy weather in Halifax Monday morning to officially welcome His Royal Highness Prince Charles, and the Duchess of Cornwall to Canada.

The royal couple spent the morning at a military resource centre, dedicated to serving Canadian military families, in Halifax.

In remarks to the crowd, bundled up against the damp and chilly weather — the prince reflected on Canada’s contributions in the Second World War — and even managed to spark some laughter in the crowd by saying he was pleased to be in Canada’s naval gateway city, on the first day of summer.

After laying a wreath to commemorate the occasion, Charles and Camilla took time to greet those who had gathered in the square to welcome them.

The royal couple will travel to Charlottetown Monday evening and Winnipeg on Tuesday.
