One injured, $1.5M in damages following Burlington house fire

A home fire in Burlington’s north end has left one civilian injured and about $1.5 million worth of damages.

On Saturday at 12:13 p.m., fire crews responded to a residential structure fire on Webb Street.

Upon arrival, crews were met with smoke and flames and determined the fire had started in the garage.

Fire officials report three people were inside the home, prompting a response of 26 personnel and nine emergency vehicles for a duration of four hours.

Crews say the suspected cause of the blaze is smoldering ashes.

Residents are being reminded to let ashes cool completely, then empty them into a sealed metal container and keep it outside.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted.
