Part of the gym roof at Glenview Public School collapsed over the weekend after being closed prior to school ending due to safety concerns.

The Halton District School Board has confirmed that there was no one inside the building at the time of the collapse and says that staff and student well-being remains their highest priority.

The school community and staff have been notified about this incident and will continue to be updated in the weeks ahead.

The gym was closed to all students and staff prior to the school closing for the summer due to safety concerns.

The HDSB says that a structural engineering company had been secured to examine the roof prior to its collapse and they will continue to work with the company to determine next steps.

In the meantime, a fence has been placed around the gym to secure the site and the school remains closed to all staff and visitors.
