At least one journalist has been killed and six others were injured after Israeli shelling landed on a gathering of international journalists in southern Lebanon on Friday afternoon.
Reuters would confirm later on that videographer Issam Abdallah had died in the incident.
In a statement that followed the incident the news agency said that Abdallah was a part of a crew providing a live video signal near the Lebanon-Israel border.
Reuters says that two more of their journalists, Thaer Al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh, were also injured in the incident.
“We are urgently seeking more information, working with authorities in the region, and supporting Issam’s family and colleagues,” Reuters said.
The Committee to Protect Journalists has confirmed that at this time 11 journalists, including Abdallah, have been killed since the war began.
The Lebanon-Israel border has been witnessing sporadic acts of violence since Hamas attacked southern Israel last Saturday.
