Restaurant ‘Planted in Hamilton’ closes after pandemic struggles

Samuel Perry is the owner of Planted in Hamilton. After accumulating debt through the pandemic, he said it was time to close. It was a niche restaurant, serving dishes you might not find anywhere else.

It wasn’t his first choice either. He says the original building on John Street was being demolished, and at the end of the pandemic lockdowns, they were forced to move to Locke Street.

Cassandra Chootie has been coming to Planted in Hamilton for over four years. She says having a gluten allergy growing up made it difficult to go out for treats.

While the announcement was made a few days ago, the decision to leave Planted in Hamilton was a long time coming.
