Federal New Democrats select Layton’s successor.
This weekend in Toronto nearly 4,000 delegates are expected to attend the party’s leadership convention.
That’s almost twice the total of the last convention in 2003.
It’s by far the biggest leadership showcase in the party’s history and ends a seven-month race to replace Jack Layton.
Hopefuls include Thomas Mulcair, Nathan Cullen, Paul Dewar, Brian Topp, Niki Ashton, Peggy Nash and Martin Singh.
