On this day in 1944, more than 150 000 Canadian, British and U.S. forces stormed the beaches along an 80 kilometre stretch of Normandy, France. They were in a battle against the Nazis.
Allied casualties on this one day alone are roughly 10 000 killed, wounded and missing in action, including 1000 Canadians.
Kelly Botelho spoke with those who took part in the invasion 73 years ago and Veterans say it’s a day they hope no one will ever forget.
