QEW fatal in Stoney Creek

There was a deadly crash on the QEW in Stoney Creek early yesterday.

It happened around 4:40 am in the Niagara bound lanes. A driver was going the wrong way when his car crashed head-on with another. One of the vehicles caught fire and its driver died at the scene. The other driver is being treated for serious injuries.

The crash closed the QEW between Fruitland and Fifty roads for several hours yesterday morning.

So far there’s no word if alcohol played a role but police are looking into it. The names of the men involved haven’t been released.
