Boy dead, police officer injured in incident in Kawartha Lakes Ont.

Ontario’s police watchdog says a one-year-old boy is dead and a provincial police officer is injured after an incident in Kawartha Lakes
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says police were investigating after a man allegedly abducted his young son.
Police located a vehicle of interest, which then crashed into an OPP cruiser and another civilian vehicle.
Monica Hudon, a spokeswoman for the SIU says there was an interaction and three officers then shot at the man, who was gravely injured and airlifted to hospital. She says police then found the 33-year-old man’s son dead in his vehicle.
SIU investigating incident in the City of Kawartha Lakes. As a result of an interaction between a man and police, the man was shot and a police officer was seriously injured. A young boy is deceased. More information to come later.
