Toronto Police’s Project Spiderman has made an arrest following a series of sophisticated break-and-enters.
Investigators say Shane Gagnon, 43, of Bradford targeted high-end homes in Forest Hill, Vaughan and Richmond Hill. The break-ins happened between October 2010 and January of this year.
Police say he used spy cameras, parabolic listening devices, ropes and break-in tools to enter the homes, and that he would often get in by cutting a hole in the roof and lowering himself into the attic.
The value of the stolen merchandise is estimated to be in the millions.
Det-Sgt Savas Kyriacou says he may be the most prolific break-and-enter artist police have ever busted.
“Mr Gagnon had the physical ability, he prepared himself, and obviously he had the equipment to commit these offences over the years.”
Police arrested Gagnon when he rolled through a stop sign. He is facing at least 31 charges of breaking and entering.
