It was a huge night for Canadian music and for Hamilton, as TD Coliseum hosted the 55th annual Juno Awards.
Simone Gavros was on the orange carpet ahead of the show, where she got the chance to speak with rock band, The Beaches, who gave a little love to the city with an Oskee wee wee! Oskee wa wa!
Leandra Earl also shared a video to her Instagram at the A&W on Bay Street and King Street in Hamilton, saying that Grammy winners go to In & Out, Juno winners go to A&W.
The Beaches took home two awards in total this weekend. They won Rock Album of the Year on Saturday and Group of the Year for the third night in a row. They also took to the Juno stage to perform their emotionally raw ballad “Lesbian of the Year”.
Tate McRae swept the awards categories this weekend, taking home four statuettes for Single, Album, Artist and Pop Album of the Year.
Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, who were not at the awards show, were nominated for six and five awards respectively, but went home empty handed.
