Today on Morning Live, acting CEO Brad Park (pictured) announced the Brant United Way, United Way of Haldimand & Norfolk, United Way Halton & Hamilton, and United Way Niagara are joining together to become United Way Golden Horseshoe.
The new, single organization hopes to support more people, respond more effectively to local needs, and help build a stronger, more connected region.
“The not for profit landscape is changing at a pretty rapid pace,” said Park. “There are a lot of trends we are trying to get ahead of. A couple of those are just the increasing demand for agencies’ programs and services. There are more people accessing them, there are wait lists building and we need to get ahead of that.
“On the flip side, there’s also a decrease in the number of donors giving to charity across the country. Less donors giving more is the trend and in order to try to get in front of a couple of those trends, our boards have decided to join forces,” Park told Morning Live.
More to come.
