Price at the pumps sets a new ceiling

The situation in Iraq is one reason why oil prices are on the rise and why gas prices are expected to reach record highs in the GTA this weekend.
Here’s cheery news for drivers. the latest prediction from the “Tomorrow’s Gas Prices Today” website is that prices are going to go up over the next few days. Sharply. And the probability of the increase is 100 per cent.
Gas prices on this stretch of James Street North Friday afternoon were around $1.38.6 to $1.39 a litre. Prices over the weekend and early next week are expected to rise by two cents a litre to reach around $1.43 in some areas. And experts say they could stay there, for the foreseeable future, or even go higher. No one knows. It’s because of the turmoil in Iraq, and Wall Street trades pushing up the price of oil because they’re uncertain about supplies in the future. And drivers are feeling it.
“Like I feel that it’s not really fair to us that we should have to pay for something else that’s going on. And now they’re just constantly going on and rising and rising and rising and when will it end?”
“I’m still going to fill my car with gas. I need to go places. So unfortunately, I’m going to pay the prices.”
“It’s a Yaris. I can fill it for 50 bucks and drive for 600 kilometres so I’m OK with that.”
So that gentleman may be right. We should all be driving more fuel-efficient cars. Especially since there’s no sign of prices coming down once they go up. And these prices we’re paying now are about 12 cents a litre higher than last year. And of course they were going up steadily before that.
