‘Powerful storm’ knocks down trees, power lines throughout Norfolk County
Ontario Provincial Police is urging drivers in Norfolk County to take extra care as they head out Monday morning after a storm caused significant damage throughout the region.
Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said a “powerful storm” ripped through the area overnight causing several trees and power lines to come toppling down.
Sanchuk said damage was caused throughout St. Williams, Turkey Point, and the Courtland area heading up to Long Point and Port Rowan.
“If you are travelling on the back roadways please make sure you expect the unexpected,” said Sanchuk. “As I was coming down Windham Rd. 9, I came across a huge tree in the middle of the roadway. So please reduce your speeds and focus on your driving.”
