Portions of Highway 407 reopen following grass fires

Portions of Highway 407 in the Halton region have reopened after being closed due to grass fires Monday.
The fires were in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line.
All lanes on the 407 going eastbound at Dundas Street in Burlington and all lanes on the 407 going westbound at Bronte Road in Oakville were closed.
Halton police posted on X to inform the public of the ongoing fires.
Police and Burlington Fire are currently responding to multiple grass fires along the railway tracks in the area of Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line. Some road closures are anticipated to allow Burlington Fire access. No injuries reported to police.

Authorities also say that grass fires had been reported along the railway tracks in the area of Tremaine road and No. 2 Side Road.
The public was asked to avoid the areas while fire crews were on scene.
