Port Hope water treatment failure leads to emergency declaration
The municipality of Port Hope has declared an emergency due to failed pumps at the municipal water treatment plant.
Water quality has not been compromised, but officials are asking people to conserve until the situation is fixed.
Two of five high-lift pumps that distribute drinking water to Port Hope failed on Saturday night.
Town officials say they declared the emergency to access provincial help if needed.
