Port Colborne man charged after woman struck, killed by van in February

A 39-year-old man has been charged nearly six months after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Port Colborne.
It happened around 3 p.m. on Feb. 7 in the area of Welland and Bell streets.
Niagara police say the man driving a yellow Ford van was turning left onto Welland Street when he struck the woman.
She was then rushed to an out-of-region hospital in an Ornge air ambulance. She later died of her life-threatening injuries.
In an update Thursday, officers say a Port Colborne man was charged with careless driving causing death.
He is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.
