Port Colborne drug investigation leads to arrests

In the spring of 2016 members of the Welland Street Crime Unit commenced an investigation into the sale of controlled substances by a mobile drug dealer who was selling in Port Colborne and Welland, Ontario.

On Thursday April 28 3 people were arrested in the parking lot of a business on Main Street East in Port Colborne, Ontario.

Police seized approximately $2,870 in suspected cocaine, approximately $400 in marihuana and psilocybin and $4,195 in Canadian currency.

Daniel Lelay, 27, of Port Colborne is charged with

• 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• 2 counts of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
• 3 counts of breach of a recognizance

David Bongers, 27, of Port Colborne is charged with:

• possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• possession of proceeds of property obtained by Crime Under $5000

Brandi Reale, 21, of Welland is charged with:

• possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
• possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Lelay is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 29, 2016 while Bongers and Reale are being released on an officer in charge promise to appear and given a future court date.
