Police want to ticket marijuana

The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police has passed a resolution, asking the federal government to consider softening laws against marijuana. The Chiefs, who have their annual meeting in Winnipeg this week, say the justice system would move more smoothly, if they could issue tickets for simple possession of pot, rather than having to impose a criminal charge.
