Police seize $12M in cocaine in Brantford drug smuggling investigation

A cocaine smuggling investigation in Brantford has led to one of the city’s largest drug seizures in history.

Earlier this year, Brantford police and the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) launched an investigation into the trafficking and distribution of cocaine throughout Brantford and surrounding areas.

Investigators identified a group of individuals who were believed to be involved in the importation of cocaine into Canada.

On Dec. 4, CBSA officers intercepted a tractor trailer that was attempting to enter back into Canada from the United States on the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ont.

The vehicle, which is registered to a Milton-based company, was searched and officers located roughly 112 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs have an estimated street value of $12 million.

Brampton residents Jugrajpreet Singh and Amrinder Singh, both 22 years of age, were arrested and charged with possession for the purpose to traffic and importation of cocaine.
