Police seek suspect after armed bank robbery in Welland

Niagara police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect following an armed bank robbery in Welland.

Officers say they were called to the CIBC on 200 Fitch St. around noon Wednesday.

Upon arrival, police determined that a man entered the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded cash.

Police say the suspect fled the area after receiving an undisclosed amount of money. The workers did not sustain any physical injuries.

Investigators say the K9 unit was called in and they believe the man took off eastbound toward the Steve Bauer Trail that runs adjacent to Prince Charles Dr.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 40’s, around five-foot-four, with grey hair or possibly wearing a wig.
