Police now say alcohol was a factor in an accident that claimed two lives earlier this summer in Binbrook.

On July 26th, a Mazda Protégé, driven by 17 year old Shawn Bell, was traveling northbound on Highway 56 when it collided head on with a GMC Terrain traveling southbound.

Bell was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 42 year old driver of the GMC was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following an investigation, police have concluded Bell’s vehicle crossed over the centre line and struck the southbound GMC Terrain. They also say speed, alcohol and drug impairment were factors in the fatal crash.
