Police locate witness in Al-Hasnawi murder investigation

Hamilton Police have located a key witness in the Yosif Al-Hasnawi murder investigation.
Since the murder, police had been looking for the “older male” who was being harassed by two other men when Al-Hasnawi intervened and was shot.
Earlier this week, new security images of the man were released.
It was those new images that led to a tip from a member of the public, police said in a news release.
Detectives interviewed the man Wednesday afternoon. Police are not releasing his name.
Nineteen-year-old Yosif Al-Hasnawi was shot near Main St. E and Sanford Ave. Dec. 2.
On Wednesday, CHCH News had an exclusive interview with Al-Hasnawi’s mother.
Niagara Regional Police are conducting an investigation into the actions of paramedics that night.
It took over 30 minutes to get Al-Hasnawi to hospital after paramedics arrived.
The family has launched a $10 million lawsuit naming Hamilton Police, paramedics and St. Joseph’s Healthcare.
Dale King, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder.
Twenty-year-old James Matheson is charged with being an accessory after the fact.
