Police investigating two assaults in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Niagara police are investigating two separate assaults in Niagara-on-the-Lake involving the same female victim.

Officers say that on May 5, the woman reported the first assault which happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. while she was walking her dog along a pathway in the area of Niagara Stone Road and Henry Street.

She was approached from behind by an unknown male and physically assaulted.

Authorities say the victim was able to flee the area and was not physically injured.

The suspect in this incident is described as a man with a lean build, wearing dark clothing.

The second assault incident took place on May 11 at approximately 10 p.m.

Investigators say the same victim was in the backyard of her residence in the area of Homestead Drive and Frontier Drive when she was assaulted from behind by an unknown male, who then fled on foot.

The victim was not physically injured.

The suspect in this incident is described as a five-foot-ten tall male with an average build, wearing black clothing.

Detectives have been searching the area and have reviewed potential surveillance footage.

Anyone with surveillance or dash camera footage of the areas on May 5 between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and May 11 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009701.
