Brant County police are looking into two reports of counterfeit money being used at businesses on King Street in Burford, ON, just outside Brantford.
Investigators say a man entered a business around 1:06 p.m. on Feb. 22 and used a counterfeit $100 bill to buy a pack of cigarettes.
He received approximately $75 in change before attempting to break another $100 bill, but the cashier refused.
Police describe the man as being white, approximately 50 years old, with a grey beard.
He was wearing a black jacket with “Home Hardware” on it, a black “CAT” baseball cap, tan pants and glasses.
Later the same evening, a second man entered another business in the area and used a counterfeit bill to buy food. He received $90 in change.
This suspect is described as a white man, around 25-35 years old, wearing a black hat, beige jacket, grey jogging pants and tan-coloured shoes.
Witnesses said they saw a large quantity of $100 bills in his wallet.
