Man charged after alleged abduction, sexual assault of woman in Brantford in 2023

Brantford police charged a man Wednesday after a woman was allegedly abducted in Hamilton, drugged, sexually assaulted and abandoned in Brantford back in 2023.

Officers say the woman was walking in the area of Barton Street East and Wellington Street in Hamilton at around 3:30 a.m. on April 27, when an unknown man abducted her.

Investigators say the woman was drugged and driven to a remote location in Brantford where she was sexually assaulted and abandoned.

At the time, police said the suspect was driving a two-door Jeep Wrangler with a black hard top and black plastic fenders.

Detectives say after continued investigation, they arrested a 53-year-old man from Brantford and charged him with offences including sexual assault, kidnapping, assault and forcible confinement.

The man was held for a bail hearing.

Police have not revealed any other details regarding the man or the circumstances of the investigation.
