Police investigate death of 17-year-old girl: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Norfolk County is investigating the death of a 17-year-old girl.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Aug. 27, police were called to Norfolk General Hospital where paramedics had transported a teen from a home in Simcoe.

The girl was later transferred to a Hamilton hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the victim as Rachel Cook, of Simcoe.

OPP says a post-mortem examination has been performed, but further testing will be conducted by Ontario Forensic Pathology Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Police have charged 40-year-old Derek Adams, of Simcoe, with trafficking in a schedule 1 substance and breach of probation.

Adams is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
