Police identify 2 officers killed in Innisfil shooting
Police north of Toronto have identified two officers who were killed in a shooting while responding to a disturbance call on Tuesday night.
South Simcoe Police Service say Const. Devon Northrup, 33, and Const. Morgan Russell, 54, responded to the fatal incident that occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at a home in the town of Innisfil.
The statement says both officers were taken to a nearby hospital, where one died from their injuries.
The second officer later died after he was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre in critical condition.

Investigators say the suspect in the case is also dead, following an interaction with police at the home.
A source close to the investigation identified the suspect as 22-year-old Chris Doncaster.
The Special Investigations Unit has been called in and an autopsy on the suspect is to be completed on Friday.
Residents who live in the area have said an elderly couple who had an adult grandson lived in the house where the shooting took place.
Const. Northrup was with the force for six years, working with the community mobilization and engagement unit.
Northrup also took part in the mental health crisis outreach team and the emergency response unit.
The second officer who died, Const. Russell, was with the force for 33 years, working as a trained crisis negotiator and was assigned to uniform patrol.
It is the second fatal shooting of an officer in one month. Toronto police Const. Andrew Hong was killed on Sept. 12 while on break at a Tim Hortons in Mississauga, Ont.
