Police charge driver who struck pedestrian in downtown Hamilton in December

A Hamilton woman has been charged after a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of James St. S and Young St. last month.

Police say a 48-year-old woman was crossing the intersection around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 when she was struck by a driver making a left turn on a green light.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.

Police say the pedestrian had the right of way and was in the marked crosswalk.

The driver, a 36-year-old Hamilton woman, has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 10.
