Woman faces over a dozen charges after a slew of thefts in Oakville

An Oakville woman is facing charges for a number thefts in the town in the past month.

Halton police say officers were called to seven incidents between Dec. 24 and Jan. 23, involving the same woman.

On Dec. 24, about $66,000 worth of computer equipment and accessories was stolen from from Rockstar Games in Oakville.

There were several other incidents between Jan. 20 and Jan. 23, including thefts from a community mailbox on Pearson Dr. and the theft of an iPhone from a Longo’s on Trafalgar Rd.

In another incident, police say a jacket containing car keys was stolen from a dental office on Trafalgar Rd. The vehicle, which was in the parking lot, was stolen. It has since been recovered.

Rachel Mahaffy, 30, was arrested on Jan. 25. She’s charged with:

  • Theft Over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Trafficking property obtained by crime
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Four counts of theft under $5,000
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Two counts of fraudulent use of credit card
  • Six counts of fail to comply with probation
  • Mischief under $5,000

Mahaffy was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
