Police arrest wanted Canadian federal offender in Colombia

Police have arrested a wanted Canadian federal offender in Medellin, Colombia, ending a search that began in Jan. 2023.

Arif Jhuman, alias Gillani, was located and arrested this week in an operation linked to investigations into alleged international arms and drug trafficking.

Jhuman is currently serving a nine year and 11 month sentence for several drug trafficking related charges.

Police say Jhuman was wanted for conspiracy to traffic weapons and for alleged involvement in activities related to international drug trafficking.

Jhuman entered Colombia in 2025 using allegedly false identity documents.

He was also wanted by Ontario Provincial Police for allegedly violating parole conditions linked to a 10-year prison sentence.
